Development Director (Half Time)
Digest topic: Jobs & Internships
Information
| organization: | Portland Revels |
| position summary: | Portland Revels, best known for its popular holiday presentation The Christmas Revels, is seeking a half-time Development Director to launch it into a third decade of artistic excellence and financial sustainability. KC Cowan, past producer of Oregon Public Television’s Art Beat program, has called The Christmas Revels "the best gift of the season." This show, a delightful combination of dance, song, story, audience participation, solstice ritual and Christmas cheer, has been captivating Portland audience members since 1995. Growing from a modest beginning to an annual production playing to nearly 7,000 patrons over eleven performances at the Scottish Rite Center Theater in downtown Portland, Oregon, this successful arts organization has a quarter-million-dollar budget and a half-time Executive Director. The mission of this educational nonprofit is "celebrating the seasons in community through ritual, dance, story and song." Portland Revels is now seeking to expand income beyond ticket sales and a modest annual fund to enable it to add a summer solstice production, grow the Executive Director job to full-time, and begin to lay the groundwork to raise capital funds. The Development Director of Portland Revels will be responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing an Annual Fund, to include a year-round automatic withdrawal giving campaign, major gifts, and Advisory and Board giving; the creation of a Revels Alumni organization; and laying the ground work for capital, planned and restricted giving. The primary task during the first year will be to expand the donor base and raise giving expectations among existing donors. Portland Revels has a collegial and working board of directors, an engaged development committee, a small but committed donor base, beginnings of a donor research effort, and a group of loyal volunteers. The preferred candidate for this position will have experience with growing an Annual Fund, have worked with a board and small staff to cultivate and expand an existing donor base, and knowledge of Portland’s performing arts scene and giving community. This new half-time position will report to the Executive Director and is made possible through a multi-year capacity-building grant. Annual salary range will be $15,000+ per year, based on qualifications, and will have initial benefits including flexible working hours, paid vacation and holidays. Portland Revels intends to grow the benefits package and the position scope over the next several years. Apply by sending a cover letter, resume, writing sample, and two references to Executive Director Debby Garman at portlandrevels@gmail.com. |
