Systems Administrator

Summary

Ecotrust is looking for a talented and well rounded systems administrator who is motivated by the goals of our organization. You are a jack of all technology trades with interests in network management, data security, and system administration. You will seek out network problems and solve them wherever they may be. No problem, technical or otherwise ever seems insurmountable to you. You are friendly and helpful in the face of requests large and small, working with each individual situation to find the best solution.

To support our work, Ecotrust's IT department uses a wide variety of technologies to address the diverse needs of our user base. We're always looking for creative ways to standardize and consolidate but flexibility is often necessary. Open source solutions are used wherever practical. We are currently a 95% windows workstation environment. Over the next five years we will be moving to a virtual-desktop core with a bring-your-own-device model for physical hardware.

Responsibilities

You will work with the Director to envision and create the future of the network, maintain and, when necessary, upgrade our Apache and IIS web servers, exchange server, SQL server, firewalls and other network infrastructure. You will be individually responsible for maintaining our active directory data store and group policy objects, implementing a Windows update services server, completing in-progress migrations from sql 2000 and IIS 5 to new versions, managing backup systems, ensuring a very high up-time, and maintaining relevant documentation. As a member of a small team, you will also work flexibly, covering other team member's duties when necessary.

This position is full-time, based in Portland, Oregon at the Natural Capital Center. Salary commensurate with experience. Ecotrust offers an excellent benefits package including generous vacation, retirement plan match, medical and dental insurance, life insurance and disability coverage.
