| position summary: | Sisters Of The Road’s Volunteer Co-Manager is responsible for ensuring that all volunteer trainings, guidance and support, and work done by Sisters’ volunteers is conducted in a manner consistent with Sister’s philosophies of nonviolence and gentle personalism, anti-oppressions, our community organizing model, and our systemic change approach. This position ensures that volunteer resources are available throughout our organization, including the Cafe, Administration, Systemic Change, Development, small and special events, the Board of Directors and outreach initiatives. |

| Qualifications: | 1. A demonstrated commitment to the philosophies of nonviolence and gentle personalism, anti-oppressions, a community organizing model, and a systemic change approach; plus ongoing study and practice in these philosophies, model, and approach; and ultimately the ability to mentor others in all five. 2. Demonstrated experience with volunteer coordination including outreach, recruitment, training, scheduling, recognition, and retention. 3. Excellent interpersonal communication skills and commitment to building relationships within a diverse community. 4. Understanding of and commitment to consensus decision making and an inclusive organization. 5. Understanding of and commitment to systemic solutions to ending homelessness and poverty. 6. The ability to work and collaborate within a diverse community, including listening and empowering others to create and implement solutions. 7. Ability to thrive in a chaotic environment and willingness to learn and practice conflict de-escalation techniques. 8. Strong attention to detail with the ability to proof-read and multi-task. 9. Strong organizational and time-management skills. 10. Demonstrated computer skills in Excel, word processing, and database management. 11. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to individuals and groups alike. 12. Ability to work in an non-profit environment that is transitioning to a collective management model. 13. Ability to work independently to track and fulfill the volunteer and outreach program annual plan of work. 14. Ability to follow written and verbal directions. |
