"We the People" Community Rights Workshop

Democracy activist Paul Cienfuegos will offer a 2 hour workshop on We the People: Community Rights, outlining steps to reclaim power to the people, instead of power to money and corporations. Portland faces specific issues related to corporate "personhood" and Paul will present strategies being used by cities across the country to restrict the privileges granted to corporations, under the authority of the just rights of citizens.

Ecotrust Development Manager

Ecotrust is hiring for a Development Manager. This person will be responsible for managing our suite of development activities designed to increase and diversify revenue. This individual will be responsible for the coordination of our day-to-day fundraising efforts. S/he will work with the Director of Development on setting the overall strategic direction of the development efforts in conjunction with the development team and funding goals of the organization. The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) is seeking a Life Science Education Intern to work with the upcoming Wild Minds exhibition. Summary of position:
The Life Science Education Intern will facilitate visitors' learning experiences with Wild Minds: What Animals Really Think, an exhibition highlighting animal cognition. This exhibit opens in OMSI's Life Science Hall on February 11, and runs through August 19, 2012.

Exempt Organizations Select Check

Exempt Organizations Select Check is an on-line search tool that allows users to select an exempt organization and check certain information about its federal tax status and filings. It consolidates three former search sites into one, providing expanded search capability and a more efficient way to search for organizations that:

* Are eligible to receive tax-deductible charitable contributions (Publication 78 data),
* Have had their tax-exempt status automatically revoked because they have not filed Form 990 series returns or notices annually as required for three consecutive years (Auto-Revocation List), or
* Have filed a Form 990-N annual electronic notice (e-Postcard).

Cost: $5-20 sliding scale donation

Location: Will be given upon sign up

Learn how to get the most out of your veggie garden by planning for a year's
worth of successive plantings. This workshop is designed for beginning
gardeners and covers timing, plant charts, seed and plant selection, spacing
and mapping. Each participant will go home with the know-how and materials
to create a customized planting calendar and map. Note: The March 15 date
includes a hands-on garden planning activity.

Gardening Basics

. Part II: Tuesday, February 28 - 6:00pm - 9:00pm

Cost: $5-20 sliding scale donation

Location: Given upon sign up.

In this extensive two part workshop, participants will learn to plan,
implement and care for a healthy, affordable, and sustainable garden. Part
1 covers site selection, soil health, raised bed installation, plant
families, garden planning and planting. Part 2 covers water efficiency,
pest and weed management, harvesting, composting and winterization.
Participants are encouraged, but not required to sign up for both parts.
