Movies and Meaning Group - "Inside Job" - Thursday, March 17
Hello Movie Lovers,
Join us this week for "Inside Job" which won for best documentary film at the Oscars this year. Below is a blurb from the movie website:
"From Academy Award nominated filmmaker, Charles Ferguson, comes "Inside Job," the first film to expose the shocking truth behind the economic crisis of 2008. The global financial meltdown, at a cost of over $20 trillion, resulted in millions of people losing their homes and jobs more>>. Through extensive research and interviews with major financial insiders, politicians and journalists, "Inside Job" traces the rise of a rogue industry and unveils the corrosive relationships which have corrupted politics, regulation and academia."
Illahee Lectures: David Bollier - On the Commons (May 11th)
Wednesday, May 11th, David Bollier joins us to talk about his perspectives and work on the commons -- things that we inherit and create jointly, and that will (hopefully) last for generations to come. For over ten years, Bollier has examined the commons as a new paradigm for exploring how we look at economics, politics, and culture. Preserving the commons offers an affirmative vision of a more equitable, eco-friendly society.

Hike? Climb? Comment! Important Forest Meeting
Every weekend millions of Americans head out to places like the Mount Hood National Forest to hit the trail and enjoy opportunities to see abundant wildlife, swim & fish in clean lakes and rivers, or enjoy traditional quiet recreation in our National Forests. Tens of millions more depend on clean drinking water that come from these same forests.
Chances are, if you live in Oregon, you're one of those people. It's important that you attend the only meeting held in Oregon that will help determine the management of our National Forests for decades to come: http://tinyurl.com/pdxnfma

April 14, 2011, Kim Klein presents 2 workshops to nonprofits.

Weatherization in Spring is a GOOD idea! Free Workshop
Yes, it's getting warmer out, but before we know it winter will be back!
Community Energy Project is offering the last weatherization workshops of
the year. Why weatherize your home when it's getting warm out? CEP offers
information on draft-stopping techniques and materials that keep your home
cooler in the summer, and are reusable for several years, so you will be
prepared that fateful day in fall when the temperature shifts back to cold.
Join us at this free workshop! Qualified participants can receive a free kit
of weatherization supplies, worth $150. This is your last chance until late
September!
