Nonprofit News

Praise for CCP’s Pro-Bono Consulting - Apply by July 29 for Fall Assistance

Since 2005 the Community Consulting Program (CCP), an outreach effort sponsored by the Organizational Development Network of Oregon, has been providing pro-bono consulting services to Portland area public benefit non-profits. Since then we’ve done 25 projects.  Here’s what five past clients have had to say:

"In my previous professional life, I often worked with consultants. I thought the CCP was far and away the best group of consultants that I have ever worked with. They listened and were flexible working with a diverse group of clients (artists and non-artists). Thank you."  --  Arlene Krasner, Board Chair, Print Arts Northwest (Spring, 2010)

Pangaea Students need Cameras!

The Pangaea Project students are embarking on a summer intensive of community mobilization education, service learning and digital storytelling and they need cameras to document their work!  We have 10 students and would like to put digital cameras in the hands of each student.  If you have a digital camera that is 5 megapixels or better and would like to give it to us, please contact sarah@thepangaeaproject.org or by phone at 503.517.8999

We are leaving for the Louisiana/Mississippi Gulf Coast next week to work on post-Katrina rebuild efforts and to learn from the gulf coast community so cameras in hand by this weekend, 7/9, would be ideal!

Thanks!!

Youth Workshop Instructor

Our Need:

Recreational and creative activities help young people build relationships, skills, and confidence.  REACH Community Development is an affordable housing provider, and we are looking for creative and energetic individuals to lead workshops and activities for young residents as part of our Summer Youth Program.  Do you have a particular skill or talent you could share?

Residents have expressed an interest in the following activities, although we are open to any skills or talents volunteers bring to the table: jewelry-making, drawing, singing, music performances, learning an instrument, playing kickball or football in the park, writing stories, classes on reading enrichment, outdoor education, cooking, and computers.

Family Field Trip Volunteers

Our Need:

Do you have a passion for youth and families?  What about social justice and low-income populations?

We are looking for a few volunteers this summer to help supervise family field trips to places in the Portland area such as OMSI, the Portland Art Museum, the Children’s Museum, and local parks.

This volunteer opportunity will give you a chance to build positive relationships with young people and their families, have fun, and make a difference.

Volunteer tutors for refugee students in Portland area

The School Assistance For Refugee Newcomers (SAFRN) is looking for volunteer tutors for recently arrived refugee students in the tricounty area.

Volunteers are matched with refugee students (grades K-12) who are attending public schools in Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington counties and have lived in the U.S. less than one year.

Volunteers will spend 1.5 to 2 hours per week with their students, usually in the students' homes, helping with English, homework, and learning about American culture.

Because of housing affordability issues in the Portland area, we have a particular need for volunteers who are able to commute to outer SE Portland to work with our students who live in that area.
