Nonprofit News

SW Portland Tool Library needs rental space

The SW Portland Tool Library is a cooperative non profit tool lending library where residents of SW Portland can borrow home and garden tools to repair, maintain, or improve their properties. A tool lending library lends tools just like the public library lends books and other media. We are looking for a location to rent which would be inexpensive or negotiable. We are looking for 300-1000 sq. feet with electricity, even a detached garage would work. If you know of any location which might be a possibility please contact us.

We are also interested in SW Portland residents who would like to help make a tool library happen in our area.

Thank you,

Honey O'Connor

Volunteering

volunteers for after school tutoring program (Reynolds High School)

Reynolds High School, Black Teen Empowerment Club

We're looking for tutors willing to work with African American students who are struggling in school, or are at risk of not meeting graduation requirements. Most of our students are struggling in math and science, but we’ll accept all the help we can get. We also provide snack for students and tutors, as well as incentives for volunteers (gift cards etc). Volunteers should be at least 18 years of age and must be able to provide their own transportation to and from Reynolds (I’ll look into possible travel reimbursements). We are also required to submit background checks on all volunteers.
