The Association of Fundraising Professionals – Oregon & Southwest Washington Chapter ("AFP") will present a “Strengthening Foundation Relationships” Webinar for members and non-members on Monday, October 17 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Bridgeport BrewPub in the Pearl at 1313 NW Marshall Street in downtown Portland, Oregon. The Webinar will be followed at 5 p.m. by Microbrew Monday, a no host social and professional networking event.

Upcoming workshops - rain barrels and cisterns

The Watershed Stewards Program, a joint program of Clark County Environmental Services and WSU Clark County Extension, is presenting a very popular rain barrel workshop on Saturday, October 22nd from 9:00-11:00 a.m. and a FREE cistern workshop on November 3rd from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the 78th Street Heritage Farm.  Rain barrels are a good way to divert some of your home's stormwater runoff and to save water for the garden on dry days. 

The workshop includes instruction on assembly and installation, barrel, parts and snacks.  At just $35, this is one of the best rain barrel deals in town!

Registration now open for youth animation workshop at the Hollywood Theatre!

Zombies and candy and animation - oh my!  We at the historic Hollywood Theatre are pleased to announce a special Halloween Animate It! workshop, a weekend introducing 2nd - 4th grade students to the art of stop animation.  The workshop will be October 29th and 30th, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. both days; be prepared, our instructors are concocting some very special Halloween adventures for the young animators involving work in clay, spooky sounds, shadows, candy, and much more!

You are invited to our Catholic Campaign for Human Development Grants Workshop Monday, October 24th from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Pastoral Center (2838 E. Burnside Street, Portland).

CCHD is the domestic anti-poverty program of the U.S. Catholic Bishops which works to address the root causes of poverty in the U.S. through promotion and support of community-controlled, self-help organizations.

Our mission at the National MS Society, Oregon Chapter is to mobilize people and resources, to drive research for a cure, and to address the challenges of everyone affected by MS. Attn: Teachers/Schools Interested in Art/Environmental Ed.

Create Plenty's International Plastic Quilt Project wants to bring an artist/educator to lead your students in learning about the effects of plastic on the environment. The project will culminate in an exhibit of artwork made from single-use plastic in a group show that brings all student participants and their families together in a celebration of increased and growing awareness and solutions. We are looking to expand the project in Portland for 2012.

Details: 4-6 class periods between January and Earth Day, (Apriil 22)

Rising Tide - Occupy Into Action

Rising Tide - Occupy into Action

A day of workshops focused on building critical skills needed to empower
activists in the occupy movement to battle oppression and create real change
in our communities and beyond. There will be a chance to implement your new

Historic Hollywood Theatre seeks skilled volunteers for youth animation workshop!

The historic, non-profit, Hollywood Theatre seeks volunteers with youth and/or animation experience to assist with Animate It!, a weekend workshop for 2nd-4th graders that introduces them to the basics of stop motion animation.  The workshop will be Oct. 29th & 30th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. both days; volunteers will also be asked to attend an orientation meeting the week before.
