Position Overview

The Technology & Volunteer Coordinator is a temporary, part-time position beginning immediately, working through March 2010. The Coordinator works on the organization’s groundbreaking Marriage Matters to Me video project. Based in Portland, the position is responsible for editing and uploading videos; for recruiting and training volunteers on web-based projects; and contacting active volunteers by phone, email, and social networking to ensure distribution of personal videos.

Responsibilities

• Edit and upload videos to website; build individual web pages using a template.

• Follow up with activists to distribute their personal video statements in support of marriage equality

• Maintain administrative systems necessary to track volunteer participation

• Recruit, train and manage tech-savvy volunteers to edit digital videos, to upload videos through YouTube’s upload interface, and to build custom web pages using TypePad

• Develop and execute online strategies to increase visibility of the Marriage Matters to Me video project and its web page

• Prepare written weekly work plans and progress reports

• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements

• Knowledge of Windows XP Operating System;

• HTML proficient

• Experience with Adobe Photoshop, video editing software, MS Office Suite, online blogging software (Wordpress, Typepad, etc.)

• Ability to troubleshoot technology and software issues

• Knowledge and experience with online social media networks (Youtube, Facebook and twitter)

• Great interpersonal skills; demonstrated experience in volunteer recruitment and management

• Commitment to excellence and to the mission and goals of the organization

• Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and work as part of a fast-paced team

• Commitment to building a multi-racial team; experience working in multi-racial environments

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
