Part –Time Job Description

Qualifications

1.       A master’s degree in social work or a related social service field is preferred.  A bachelor’s degree with ten years of work experience in a social service setting may be considered as a substitute.

2.       Five or more years experience working in a social service program serving children and teens.

3.       Three or more years successful experience supervising full-time staff and volunteers. Demonstrated leadership qualities, ability to inspire staff and nurture a team-oriented work culture.

4.       Two years experience tracking government and foundation grants. Grant writing experience and Excel proficiency desired.

5.       Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

6.       Exceptional initiative.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide outreach to at-risk children and develop new programs to meet unmet needs. Assist with volunteer recruitment in the county and provide general P.R. Provide problem solving, crisis management and referrals to community services as needed. Coordinate in-school mentoring programs. Maintain written records on all match transactions including goals, evaluations, and case statistics. Facilitate volunteer/child trainings. Attend monthly activities for volunteers and children. Interview and assess children, parents and volunteers as needed. Provide support at fund-raisers. Oversee risk management in the program department including compliance with BBBS of America standards Ensure that the program procedures are in-line with BBBSA Service Delivery model. Monitor grant compliance; submit quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports as required.  Ensure timely and accurate data collections.  Submit monthly reports to the CEO, and Board of Directors. Network with other agencies (particularly collaboration agencies) to stay abreast of community resources that may benefit or facilitate programming, and facilitate referrals and interagency communication/cooperation. Attendance requirements for meetings:  collaboration, program and staff meetings, and staff retreats. Assist with the development and writing of grant proposals. Oversee the submission of volunteer award nominations. Coordinate the county-wide Amachi collaboration.

18. Supervise a caseload of matched pairs of children and Big Brothers and Sisters.

19.  Through scheduled in-person, telephone and electronic contact, ascertain that the elements of child safety, match relationship development, positive youth development and volunteer satisfaction are fulfilled and that potential problems and barriers are identified and addressed as early as possible.  Promptly notify supervisor regarding concerns, which may negatively impact the match. 

20. Implement and promote match activities to support ongoing volunteer involvement through individualized recognition, annual events, and reengagement strategies.   Whenever possible, hold events at faith base congregations.

21. Assess individual training needs, information and support needs for each match participant to assure a positive youth development experience for the child, and successful and satisfying experience for the volunteer.

22. Ensure high-level proficiency in applying child safety and risk management knowledge, policies and procedures.

23. Conduct exit interview by phone with all parties at match closure.  Assess reasons for match closure and re-match potential.

24. Provide case management to entire family including information referrals and linkage to other services.  

Work Environment

Routine office environment. Weekday evening hours required and weekend activities as needed. If home visitation is indicated, must travel to local communities and neighborhoods. Travel between agency sites may be required.
