position summary:

Hostelling International – Oregon Council seeks an experienced Program Director to oversee all program operations in Oregon. We are the state affiliate of a national and international non-profit organization whose mission is to promote world peace and international understanding through ethical and global travel.

This is a hands-on position where the Program Director is expected to directly oversee and deliver, often personally, organizational programs in the community. Qualified candidates should have proven leadership, and ideally, directorship experience. The Program Director reports to the Board of Directors. This position is an excellent opportunity for a leadership minded individual who will have significant direct control over an entire portfolio of existing mission based program operations.

Responsibilities: Successful candidate must be friendly, organized, and results-oriented. Major job responsibilities include:

• Direct and manage all council program operations • Oversee and direct program volunteers and interns • Manage and report on strategic program metrics • Develop community partnerships and enhance program participant outreach • Work closely with program partners, such as the Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington Council staff and volunteers • Create attractive and useful marketing pieces • Promote programs • Recruit, train and coordinate volunteers • Work in collaboration with Hostelling International – Oregon Council staff, volunteers, and others in HI-USA • Act as organizational representative

Salary / Pay Rate:Salary Depending on Experience ($23,000 to $27,000) - 30 hours / week
Required Skills and Abilities:Required Qualifications: • Previous program management experience • Strong leadership skills • Operational oversight and strategic management skills • The ability to work independently • Ability to conduct outreach and maintain relationships with community partners • Excellent teamwork and facilitation skills • Ability to work some nights and weekends (program delivery events) • Professional written and oral communication skills • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills • Proficiency in MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint • Bachelor’s degree • Cross-cultural communication skills, sensitivity to global issues, and respect to individuals from diverse backgrounds
