| position summary: | Marketing and Communications 1. Assist with national marketing and recruitment strategies as outlined in the strategies calendar. 2. Conduct internet and/or phone research in order to identify special interest groups or individuals that may be interested in hosting foreign exchange students. Determine follow up actions and implement. 3. Using social networking platforms build visibility for AFS hosting programs to recruit host families. 4. Research public relations opportunities and follow through with strategies. 5. Coordinate and implement targeted mass mailing initiatives. 6. Write, distribute and track bulk emails, in order to facilitate host family recruitment in the region. 7. Work with Hosting Staff to identify and execute local events. 8. Communicate with volunteers by phone or email about hosting opportunities and strategies. 9. Ensure that AFS-USA, AFS International, federal, state, and local guidelines are being followed, especially those from the US Department of State and CSIET. Administration 1. Serve as member of the Inbound Programs Marketing Team, including staff meetings and trainings and other duties as required. 2. Remain well-informed about all AFS programs, especially any hosting program changes. 3. Assist Inbound Programs Marketing Manager and Hosting Staff with other duties as assigned or needed. | Salary / Pay Rate: | $12 per hour. This is a seasonal full time position through August 31, 2010. |
| Qualifications: | • At least two years of college or equivalent work experience • Exceptional communication skills and sales/marketing experience • Working knowledge of Windows environment and social media platforms • Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities • Experience in volunteer, community or organizational development • Cross-cultural experience preferred but not necessary • Ability to work with persons of diverse backgrounds • Commitment to the mission and principles of AFS Intercultural Programs |
