PEEPS Spring Break Camp, March 22-26

NEWSLETTER: Northwest Service Academy: Spring Into Action!

PEEPs Spring Break Camp

March 22 - 26, 2010

Spring into action with PEEPs! In March, PEEPs will be offering an amazing week of service-learning activities, fun and engaging team building games, and visits to beautiful parks in the  Portland area. This will be during the same week as Portland Public School's spring break.   During the week we'll be canoeing through a wildlife refuge to learn about watersheds, restoring native habitat with an AmeriCorps Field Team, and learning about local food issues while volunteering at a nearby farm and with the Oregon Food Bank. It promises to be a fun and engaging week!     Enrollment is limited, so sign up soon. See our website for more details on PEEPs Spring Break .

Introducing the NEW 2010 PEEPs Coordinator

I would like to extend a warm hello to all of you in the PEEPs Community. My name is Jess Hoylman and I am pleased to introduce myself as your new PEEPs Coordinator for the 2010 year! I have taken the reins from Paul Satzinger, who completed his term in December, and am honored to have the opportunity to continue to build a program that is of tremendous value to our community. Originally from the Bay Area, I have lived in the Pacific Northwest since 2003- in Portland a little over a year. I have found my passion in environmental education and find it immensely rewarding to help youth discover their place in the natural world- and the essential role they play in preserving it! I have had the opportunity to mentor youth in a variety of habitat restoration projects along the West Coast and taught Pacific Northwest ecology in OMSI's outdoor school program before joining PEEPs. I look forward to connecting with each of you and welcome your feedback in making our 2010 PEEPs programs a continuing success! Please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments or concerns at jess.hoylman@esd112.org or 503 234 2383 ext. 119.

I look forward to a great year!  - Jess Hoylman

Teaching childern about the natural world should be treated as one of the most important events in their lives.
