Earth Advantage Institute is a nonprofit organization that works with the building industry to help implement sustainable building practices. Its mission is to create an immediate, practical and cost-effective path to sustainability and reduction of carbon in the built environment. The organization achieves its objectives through an innovative range of programs for industry professionals, including certification of high performance homes, remodels, sustainable communities and commercial spaces. These programs are supported by a top-rated education department, offering basic and advanced classes on building, marketing, and valuing green homes; and by a technical services team that provides a variety of onsite tests and energy audits. Earth Advantage Institute’s Carbon Advantage program offers consulting on carbon reduction strategies within the built environment.

The education intern shall be a temporary part-time, unpaid position responsible for program support to the EAI Education Department through administrative and project-based assignments that advance Earth Advantage Institute’s mission. In this capacity, the education intern will:

• Research content, data, and trends for inclusion in real estate education curricula and materials.

• Conduct analysis of how Earth Advantage Brokers are marketing their green home expertise.

• Prepare and mail certificates of completion to graduates.

• Review all Earth Advantage Broker profiles and contact information.

• Assist in updating the resource guide in all education manuals.

The education intern will carry out all of the responsibilities listed above while:

• Meeting goals, timelines, and budgets as set forth by EAI;

• Prioritizing tasks and resources to meet educational goals;

• Maintaining on-going communication with EAI staff and program partners.

Required Skills and Abilities:The education intern should possess the following skills and attributes: • Excellent interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written). • Excellent research skills. • Interest in environmental education or sustainable building practices. • Ability to generate respect and trust from staff and program partners. • High motivation and energy level with demonstrated ability to take initiative. • Attention to details, especially relating to data entry into EAI’s Saleforce database. • Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook programs.
