| position summary: | The Oregon Environmental Council’s Clean & Healthy Rivers Program is seeking applications for two Spring 2010 volunteer interns who will help design and launch a new outreach and education program called Love Your River. In order to create long-term improvements in water quality, stream flows, and fish and wildlife habitat, the Love Your River education and outreach campaign will engage the public in watershed stewardship. The project will include an online educational resource and a multifaceted outreach campaign to drive homeowners, river recreationalists, and other members of the public to a new loveyourriver.org website. The campaign will reach people who generally care about rivers, and help them understand that we all live in a watershed and have a personal impact on the rivers we love. Incentives and fun information will help participants increase awareness, change behaviors, and increase involvement in watershed stewardship. Commitment: March - May 2009 (or longer if possible) Hours: 10 - 15 hours/wk Application Deadline: March 1, 2010 Join the Oregon Environmental Council in a fast-paced office where a “get it done” attitude is balanced with humor and fun. | Required Skills and Abilities: | The Love Your River Research Intern will develop draft content for the Love Your River website. The intern will gather information about OEC’s Love Your River tips and draft clear, actionable language for the website. The intern will also calculate estimates of the environmental impact of acting on the tips. |
