Multnomah County is a dynamic organization consisting of approximately 5,000 employees providing diverse services to various groups across the County at community at large such as libraries, social services, public safety, assessment, taxation and many others.

Multnomah County is entering an exciting time for reporting. IT is transitioning from a legacy Crystal Enterprise reporting platform to a new SQL 2008 Reporting Services platform. The platform is built and customers are starting to understand and utilize the capabilities available in the new system. Yet, this is just the beginning! We want to reach and engage all potential customers and standardize reporting across the County. We are also working toward automating many administrative tasks and virtualizing our infrastructure. This is a limited duration position, expected to last for 2 years.

Manage and Administer Microsoft SQL Server database and Business Intelligence (BI) environment
•Coordinate installation, upgrades, and patches for supported environments
•Create and configure BI/SQL Server components for development, quality assurance/testing and production environments as needed by project teams
•Determine physical storage requirements; monitor and correct space utilization
•Manage system resource utilization, load and performance
•Develop and recommend strategies for scalability and growth of enterprise database systems
•Set up monitoring, alerting and trending for supported systems
•Ensure system availability, scalability and security
•Ensure supported systems and data are backed up and restorable
•Create sophisticated software/scripts as needed to support Application Services goals including automated deployments, system integration, environment refreshes, etc.
•Automate administrative processes as needed to increase overall quality of the environments

Enterprise Reporting Environment Incident Management
•Coordinate with key partners as needed to resolve issues with supported environments
•Determine root causes and find permanent fixes to supported systems’ problems
•Partner with other technical areas (Technical Services, Developers, Networking, Desktop, etc.) to resolve difficult cross functional problems
•Communicate with customers about outages, issues and problems as needed

Customer Mentoring, Training and Documentation
•Work with new developers, as needed to educate them on specific processes and procedures for developing on the SQL Platform
•Provide mentorship to developers, other customers and IT personnel as appropriate
•Document Enterprise BI/MS SQL Server procedures, policies and best practices
•Provide training to IT Manager, peers and end users as assigned to meet identified needs
