3/12, Spruce Swamp Invasive Species Removal Day

Come out Friday, March 12 from 10 AM to 3 PM to remove invasive species from the Columbia Land Trust’s Crooked Creek. The property is located near Rosburg, WA on Gray’s Bay and acts as salmon rearing grounds as well as habitat for waterfoul, river otters, elk, seals, and birds of prey. Crooked Creek is unique because it is inter-tidal spruce swamp, the habitat type that is being lost faster than any other in the Northwest. We’ll be removing invasive holly, laurel, and ivy to make way for a replanting and restoration of the spruce.

The property is also great for kayaking and canoers and kayakers are encouraged to come and get some paddling time in.

If you are interested in attending, please contact Kelly at volunteer@columbialandtrust.org or (360) 213-1215. Carpooling opportunities may be available from the Portland/Vancouver area.
