position summary:

The Part-time Executive Director (ED) is responsible for managing the operations of the Friends of the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge (FOR) This position is considered exempt under Oregon State employment guidelines.
The ED reports to the Board of Directors of the FOR or a Board-designated person or committee.

• Establish business practices and office systems for:
1. the routing of mail
2. responding and routing phone messages left on the FOR phone line
3. organizing grant files
4. ensuring annual reports are completed and filed especially IRS Form 990 and Oregon Dept of Justice reports
5. items to be discussed at Board Meetings including meetings of membership, annual meetings and meetings of elections of officers
6. maintaining payroll records and reports including SAIF, W2, and other necessary records
7. ensuring FOR has adequate insurance to cover general liability, employee theft, Director and Officers and other coverages as determined by the Board
8. filing papers and basic office maintenance
• Oversee the preparation of appropriate materials for meetings of the FOR Board of Directors
• Establish systems to ensure that channels of communications exist between board members, Board standing and Ad Hoc Committees, FOR staff, Refuge staff membership and the general public
• Assist standing and ad hoc committees to develop clear roles and responsibilities
• Develop standardized procedures for hiring and managing contractors
• Establish a calendar to track items necessary for the efficient operation of the FOR
• Identify new sources of funding to support programs
• Provide general office/administrative support
• Other duties as assigned

Salary / Pay Rate:DOE
Required Skills and Abilities:•• Minimum two years experience working in non-profit environment. • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree • Ability to assist with short and long-term planning of the FOR • Ability to work independently. • Experience with Windows computer operating systems, Microsoft Office, database management, e-mail marketing • Excellent written and oral communication skills. • Willingness to submit to a federal and/or state background check. DESIRED SKILLS: • Knowledge of the program of the Friends of the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge and of the public use of the Refuge WORK ENVIRONMENT The position requires office work. HOURS: Part-time 5-6 hours/wk, limited duration. Position duration is currently planned for six months to one year but may be extended if additional funding is secured for the position.
