2010 Parent Leadership Conference Tabling and Outreach
Opportunity for tabling: Non-profit organizations that work with families or youth in Multnomah County are invited to participate in the 2010 Parent Leadership Conference and help provide parents tools and information they can use to support their child's academic success.
The free Conference will be held Saturday, October 16 at Parkrose High School; interpreters, childcare, a light breakfast, and lunch are included.
Organized by Community & Parents for Public Schools (CPPS) with support from Multnomah County school districts, the Conference engages parents, families and community members to learn effective strategies for supporting their students, school, and district.
For more information about tabling or to help share information about the conference with others, please contact Kathryn Schwartz, conference coordinator, at plc@cppsportland.org.
About Community & Parents for Public Schools
Community and Parents for Public Schools (CPPS) of Portland develops and supports projects to improve education for Kindergarten through High School students by giving parents and community members tools to become partners in local public schools. CPPS is committed to building a sustainable network of diverse parent, family, and community voices to improve public education for all students in Multnomah County.
About the Parent Leadership Conference
The Conference is a free, day-long event that brings parents and community members together to learn with and from each other. In addition to a morning and lunch presentation, attendees choose from a wide range of workshops that provide tools and inspiration to engage in their children's education, at home and at school as well as at the district and state level. The PLC supports people at their current level of involvement, and provides training for those who want to increase their leadership roles. CPPS intentionally reaches out to engage, involve, and celebrate all families, and the Conference is one of the most culturally diverse events in the area. Interpreters are on site and workshops are offered in languages other than English. Families can register for the conference and learn more about it at www.cppsportland.org.
