French American International School

The French American International School is a preschool through grade eight independent school with an internationally-focused curriculum and a culturally diverse community. Founded in 1979, FAIS is Portland's oldest language immersion school, and the only school in the Portland area fully accredited by both the French Ministry of National Education and the Pacific Northwest Association of Independent Schools. French is the language of instruction in preschool through grade five, while students at the Gilkey International Middle School have the option of continuing thier French immersion education or taking the majority of their classes in English. Languages offered in middle school include French, German, Spanish, and Mandarin Chinese.
