position summary:

SUMMARY: This is a newly created, full-time position with a broad set of responsibilities touching on multiple aspects of City Club’s operations. The program coordinator will play a vital role on a highly interdependent team of five staff members and hundreds of volunteers. The program coordinator reports to the research and policy director.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Support the development of weekly Friday Forum programs by working closely with the executive director, research and policy director and Friday Forum committee members. Routine functions may include:

a.coordination with speakers,

b.gathering background information on speakers and topics,

c.writing promotional material,

d.writing introductory script for presiding officer,

e.assessing facility and logistical needs,

f.taking reservations and tracking attendance at events,

g.coordinating on-site event logistics,

h.editing candidate and ballot-measure debate scripts,

i.drafting agendas, attending and writing meeting summaries for twice-monthly committee meetings; and

j.maintaining a calendar of upcoming events.

2.Support the development of Agora and New Leaders Council Programs by working closely with the executive director, the research and policy director, Agora and New Leaders Council steering committee members. Routine functions may include:

a.coordinating with speakers and other guests,

b.writing promotional material,

c.attending and writing meeting summaries for monthly steering committee meetings,

d.assessing facility and logistical needs; and

e.meeting on-site staffing needs.

3.Provide administrative support and administer other projects as needed.

Salary / Pay Rate:Depends on experience
Required Skills and Abilities:A.Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and respond to changing priorities, B.Ability to organize, set priorities and exercise sound independent judgment within areas of responsibility, C.Highly developed writing, editing and proofing skills, D.Experience with program design and development, E.Proficiency in gathering information in the public realm, F.Ability to grasp and distill pertinent issues and ideas and relate them to programs of the Club, G.Proficiency with basic Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn new software applications required. Desktop publishing skills desirable, H.Knowledge of policy issues and matters of public interest at the local, state and national levels, I.Skilled in working effectively and congenially with volunteers, J.Ability to work independently and as part of a team, K.A high degree of tact, discretion and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive situations, L.Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information, M.Bachelor’s degree and related work experience
