Program Intern

PURPOSE: Develop, strengthen, and implement Girl Scouts’ Discovery Programs serving underserved girls in low income areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES • Develop, strengthen, and adapt Girl Scout curriculum • Facilitate and implement curriculum throughout the Portland Metro Area, state of Oregon, and SW Washington • Serve as a positive role model for girls • Set goals for internship period and evaluate progress • Aid in the recruitment of other interns, volunteers, and community partners • Serve as a positive representative for Girl Scouts

TIME COMMITMENT • Flexible, depending upon program needs and academic objectives • Renewable

QUALIFICATIONS • Comfortable and competent in working with diverse populations • Experience in or willingness to learn curriculum development skills • Excellent time management skills • Demonstrate organization, communication, teamwork and problem solving skills • Willingness to work independently and as a team with Girl Scout staff and volunteers • Diverse interns and Spanish language skills a plus

REQUIREMENTS • Currently a part-time or full-time university student with Federal Work Study eligibility • Somewhat flexible schedule • Travel primarily within the Portland Metro area, and occasionally throughout the state of Oregon and SW Washington • Own transportation preferable • Complete a volunteer application (includes criminal background check) • Register as a member of Girl Scouts of the USA ($10 dollar fee)
