Washington County Museum - Free! Family Day 2/11

Join Washington County Museum staff, volunteers and musician Rick Meyers for a roarin' good time with song and crafts. Bring the kids for an Old-Time Music Show, string activities and making valentines.

Music performances are at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., with craft activities in between. Meyers plays pioneer music on the banjo, guitar, autoharp, spoons, saw, washboard and more in this entertaining and audience-engaging show. Museum admission and all activities are FREE!

Prompt: A Write Around Portland Community Workshop

Join us for a 10 week workshop devoted to generative writing and the transformative power of writing in community. Based on the successful Write Around Portland (http://www.writearound.org/) model, this dynamic workshop incorporates many of our favorite exercises designed to inspire the writing life, including free-writing; group discussion; imagery, character, plot and poetry development; and early-draft revision.

All proceeds from Prompt go directly toward funding Write Around Portland workshops and programs in hospitals, prisons, schools, treatment centers, low-income housing facilities and more.

Plugged In: Community lecture at Do Jump's Echo Theatre

PLUGGED IN (How technology is shaping our brains, our relationships, and our sense of self)

February 26 @ 1 pm, at The Echo Theatre, Portland Oregon

A community lecture on the neurological, relational, and personal impact of today’s technology use. Ideal for people of all ages - filled with research, music,
videos, and engaging information!

This lecture is a fundraiser for Do Jump! Extremely Physical Theatre and School. All proceeds will go directly to operational and school costs. There is a suggested $25 registration fee. No one will be turned away for lack of funds, however, and a sliding scale is available.

Refuge Volunteer Open House with Special Tour

 

Discover Washington's best kept secret: 

A beautiful wildlife refuge just 15 minutes north of Vancouver!  

Join us in a closed area of the refuge for a tour with staff and learn about the natural and historical wonder that is the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge.  The Friends of the Refuge will provide refreshments and pizza for lunch while staff give a presentation about the refuge and how you can help with conservation and visitor programs.  A raffle will be held at the end.
