CNRG Volunteer Opportunities

We are what the community makes us. Contribute your time and talents to our growing organization. There are volunteer opportunities at all levels depending on your availability and skill set. From seasoned professionals to those just starting out, we have volunteer opportunities for you that impact the nonprofit community.

Each of the following roles interact to make CNRG work:

CNRG Board: policy development, strategic planning, and evaluation

Technology Committee: website, content development, and technical aspects of CNRG.

Marketing Outreach Committee: development and implementation of a marketing strategy including public relations, copywriting, and other marketing related initiatives.  Coordinate CNRG events such as Networking Night and Trainings.

Fundraising Committee: grant writing and research, fundraising plan, and sponsorship.

Moderators Group: moderating website and listserv content.

Board Member Description

Expectations of CNRG Board Members:

The board provides for both staff and governance functions while CNRG makes the transition to an organization with staff and a sustainable business plan.  Our committees also include non-board member volunteers.  We sometimes work with interns, graduate students and contractors on specific projects.  The CNRG Board currently meets on the 4nd Thursday of the month from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at CubeSpace in SE Portland.  Meetings include formal reports from committees, finance reports, website updates, and discussions of proposals and other current business.

Fundraising Committee volunteer description

Committee/Volunteer Description:

This committee leads the Board’s participation in the development of the long-term financial stability of CNRG through fundraising.  This includes, but is not limited to, individual donor management, sponsorships, and grant writing. Membership is composed of board and non-board members.

Grantwriter/ Grant planner

 Works with the other members of the CNRG Fundraising Committee to plan a grant writing calendar and write grants to fund CNRG’s expansion and operations.

Marketing Event Coordinator

Works as a member of CNRG’s Marketing and Event committee to help plan CNRG Networking Nights, trainings, and other events as necessary. This may include identifying potential venues, topics, and speakers for presentations, managing RSVP and guest lists information, posting event notices, partnering with similar organizations, and being a spokesperson for CNRG at special events.

Marketing Outreach Committee volunteer description

Committee/Volunteer Description:

This committee provides expertise and resources to assist CNRG with branding, public relations and marketing initiatives and strategies in support of CNRG's strategic plan.  The membership is comprised of Board and non-Board members with marketing and communications experience.

Moderation Committee volunteer description

The CNRG moderator reviews and approves each message that is submitted to CNRG’s listserv, ensuring the integrity of the contents of the list.  Moderator volunteer duties are conducted once a week and can be done from wherever you have internet access.  Volunteers must attend a training, commit to a day each week to moderate, and attend one meeting per month.

Nitty Gritty Dirt! Committee

The Nitty Gritty Dirt Committee seeks to support, network and facilitate the emergence and success of:

Technology Committee volunteer description

Committee Description:

This committee is responsible for guiding decisions on important technology issues and needs, and for overseeing the implementation and management of the CNRG technology infrastructure.  It also supports the needs of other committee goals and objectives through technology.  Membership is composed of Board and non-Board members with technology experience.
