Ginormous Sale at Title Wave Used Bookstore

Paperback books for 50 cents, hardbacks for $2.00, DVD's for a $1.00 and up, CD's-75 cents and up, Books on Tape and CD's for 25 cents and up. And those are the regular prices at The TITLE WAVE USED BOOKSTORE. On SATURDAY, AUGUST 7 from 9-4, those prices will be marked down 55%.

 

The Title Wave Used Bookstore sells retired Multnomah County Library materials at discounted prices. The store is run almost entirely by approximately 70 volunteers who sort, check, price, and shelve materials from the library’s 19 locations. Volunteers also provide customer service for shoppers who enjoy a selection of books in various genres, CDs, DVDs, audio books and more. Proceeds go to Multnomah County Library.

Descriptive Overview:

 

SMART (Start Making A Reader Today) seeks a .5 time Kit Program Manager to oversee kit and standard programs in a six county region of Eastern Oregon. The Kit Program Manager will raise the visibility of SMART through development of positive relationships with educational and literacy leadership throughout the region. The Kit Program Manager will provide training and support for Site Coordinators and local leadership groups and is responsible for the overall implementation and quality of program delivery in the region. This position requires considerable travel.

Volunteers needed for the Black United Fund of Oregon's 2010 Grants Evaluation Committee

Goal of the Grant Evaluation Committee: To assist the BUF Grant Program by conducting pre- and post- grant evaluations that are objective, thoughtful, and sensitive to BUF funding objectives and community needs within Oregon and SW Washington. Grant Evaluation Committee members are asked to evaluate grant applications submitted to BUF. Grants under this program do not exceed $5,000 and are made to non-profit organizations in the areas of Arts & Culture, Economic Development, Education, Health, Human Service, and Social Justice.

BE A STREAM TEAM CAPTAIN SOLV’s Team Up for Watershed Health has a program that provides an opportunity for volunteers to become more involved in watershed restoration at the leadership level. Volunteers receive watershed training in return for helping lead volunteer events at Team Up sites.

Please join us on: August 17th, 19th and 21st (you must attend all three), at the Metro Office Building in Portland

Stream Team Captain Training Schedule Tuesday, August 17th, 6-9pm : stewardship, watershed basics, restoration strategies and examples

Thursday, August 19th, 6-9pm : community involvement, working with volunteers, work party management, leadership techniques.

Responsibilities include: communicating with interested groups about field trips to TLC Farm scheduling field trips coordinating volunteer teachers to lead the trips outreach to schools/volunteers as needed
