Schoolhouse Supplies Seeks Volunteer Coordinator

Great Position Schoolhouse Supplies needs a smart, spirited, capable, and dynamic Volunteer Coordinator to take our program to the next level.   Our current volunteer base includes approximately 500 volunteers.

 

Innovative Organization Schoolhouse Supplies operates Oregon’s only Free Store for Teachers. Each year, we provide $2 million in much needed supplies that strengthen classrooms across the city and improve education for thousands of children. Our volunteer-run store is stocked with a multitude of supplies generously donated by businesses, nonprofits, and individuals. We’re proud of our community and we’re proud to improve education in Portland.

 

Primary Responsibilities

Lead the recruitment, retention, training, orientation, management and recognition of volunteers. Listen actively and respond enthusiastically to all staff requests for volunteer support. Conduct three annual Needs Assessments with staff to determine volunteer needs; develop volunteer positions in reaction to these needs. Coordinate a variety of volunteer recognition opportunities throughout the year. Lead large and small groups of volunteers through program-related projects. Seek out and attend outreach events to publicize volunteer opportunities. Manage and expand the Pick-Up Partner program with recruitment of new nonprofit organizations. General office duties related to position (mailings, email correspondence, and database entry).

Good Compensation $12-15 hourly range.  This is a part-time non-exempt position and reports to the Executive Director. Some evenings and weekends are required. Schoolhouse Supplies is an equal opportunity employer.
