Volunteer Bike Mechanics Needed!

For the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's 25th anniversary ride, Bike MS (formerly known as the MS 150) will be staged in Stayton, Oregon, known for its covered bridges, idyllic countryside, proximity to Silver Falls State Park, and bike-friendly country roads. Bike MS: Explore Oregon offers the opportunity for all levels of riders to enjoy the Mid-Willamette Valley on August 1st and 2nd, while raising funds for MS programs, research and advocacy. This year, the event expects to draw over 500 riders and more than 100 volunteers to support the Oregon Chapter’s efforts. As this is a fundraising ride, this year we expect to raise over $400,000 for the nearly 7,000 individuals in Oregon and Southwest Washington dealing with Multiple Sclerosis.

In past years, we would have multiple bicycle shops as in-kind sponsors that would provide minor bicycle maintenance at rest stops and the rider village. Unfortunately, with the economy how it is, all but one shop has had to cancel its support for this year’s event.

If you are willing and able to help us out for both days, or even just one of the two, we would really appreciate the help. Volunteer mechanics would of course have access to all of the finish line activities including the catered meals, free beer and wine, live music, motivational speaker, camping, etc. As volunteers you receive a handy volunteer t-shirt, but as we are all bikers too, I’ll also throw in one of our custom made jersey’s for this year.
