Independent Living Youth Support Specialist, Impact Northwest

Position:  Independent Living Program - Youth Support Specialist Entry Wage: $12.20 to $13.94/hr Part-time - 20 hours  

JOB SUMMARY: The Independent Living Program Worker works under the direction of the Youth Program Supervisor and is responsible for providing support services to 40-50 foster youth, ages 14-21 in order to help them meet life-skill related goals over a one to five year period.  This position covers foster youth in North and NE Portland.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Associate degree or equivalent in social work, child development or related field; Minimum of two (2) years experience in a human services, social work or related field, preferably working with low-income youth; Familiarity with NE and North Portland communities; Ability to effectively work within a strength-based, integrated youth support service delivery system; Ability to document work continually and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; Possess strong organizational and time-management skills and ability to prioritize and complete multiple and varied tasks; Sensitivity and ability to relate to people from diverse lifestyles, socioeconomic levels, and cultures; Willingness to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and occasional weekends; Willingness to work as a team member and support the mission and goals of Impact NW.
