Bilingual Youth Site Coordinator– Adelante Mujeres

POSITION TITLE: Bilingual Youth Site Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Program Director

Adelante Chicas, is a youth program of Adelante Mujeres. Adelante Chicas was developed in response to an expressed need for a safe and fun environment in which young Latinas can learn from each other and about their heritage; express themselves freely about their experience as Latinas living in the U.S.; and take leadership within the wider community. The program provides a support network for Latina girls, to enhance their self-esteem and promote options for a positive future.

Job Summary: The Adelante Chicas Bilingual Youth Site Coordinator will be responsible for implementing researched-based curricula for small student groups after school hours; support and guide participating girls through self-discovery and empowerment; and work collaboratively with the Adelante Chicas Team to engage families in their daughters’ growth. The Youth Site Coordinator will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records of program participants.

Hours: 1 FTE - 40 hours/week. Must be available to arrange a schedule that meets youths’ needs. Occasional weekend and evening work is required.

Major Duties and Responsibilities: • Facilitate small student groups after school • Maintain regular contact with participants • Maintain accurate records and written communications to track and share project results • Attain necessary information for program evaluation • Plan and attend field trips and other program events • Coordinate a participant-lead fundraiser event • Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, interns, and work study students in the fulfillment of program tasks • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in women studies, communication, sociology, psychology or related field. Four years of directly relevant experience with youth and families may be considered in lieu of formal degree • Bilingual Spanish/English skills • Minimum one year of group facilitation experience • Strong organization and time management skills • Strong written and oral communication skills • Experience working with and motivating youth • Ability to work with diverse populations • Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook and Publisher • Must have car, valid driver’s license, and meet state required automobile insurance minimums • Must complete CPR training within 60 days of employment

Desired Qualifications: • Event coordination experience is a plus! • Sense of humor, flexibility and willingness to pitch in wherever necessary
