Compassion & Choices of Oregon Development Director – Part Time

CCO is a statewide non-profit based in Portland and dedicated to advocating for end of life choices for Oregonians with terminal illnesses, including assistance in using Oregon's Death with Dignity law.

Requirements:

The Part Time Development Director (DD) will be required to provide leadership, strategic initiative, and management of all fund-raising efforts. The Director creates and coordinates programs to increase the organization's support base among individuals, corporations, charitable foundations, and additional sources. Reporting to the Executive Director, the DD is responsible for locating, identifying, approaching, and soliciting donors for annual and major gifts.

• This position requires a Bachelor's Degree or comparable experience and at least 4-5 years of experience in a leadership role in non-profit development and a belief in the mission of Compassion & Choices of Oregon. • Experience with developing and implementing fund raising plans utilizing traditional and creative fund raising strategies. • Experience in local grant and donor relations. • Proven track record of setting and achieving annual revenue targets, including securing major donor gifts and obtaining foundation grants. • Demonstrated ability to articulate the mission and make persuasive and compelling presentations to all levels of prospective donors and diverse members of the community to advance the organizations profile in the community and maximize resource development. • Strong interpersonal written and verbal communication skills. • Demonstrated effective use of communications and marketing strategies to support fund raising efforts. • Proven ability to solve problems, work in a team environment and meet deadlines. • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Adobe, and donor databases. • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including occasional weeknights and weekends.

WAGE: $30,000 to $35,000 per year

BENEFITS: May work from home

HOURS: 20-25 per week

JOB DESCRIPTION

Plan and administer all fund-raising programs and activities of the organization, including writing grants and soliciting donations. In addition DD will, with cooperation and assistance of Executive Director and Administrative Director,:

* Oversee the development department as it grows, ensuring staff and systems operate smoothly and within budget.

* Administer annual donor database of the organization, including donor asks and solicitations with expectation of raising a net-net $120,000 or more each year by maintaining the existing annual amount of contributions.

* Develop and coordinate any and all campaigns, special events, and other programs.

* Spearhead efforts to identify and obtain individual, corporate, and foundation donations.

* Oversee preparation and production of development of mailings, printed pieces, and web communications, as related to fund-raising.

* Serve as fund-raising liaison to the Board of Directors.

* Serve as a public spokesperson for the organization.
