Nonprofit Network Southwest Washington Internships

The Nonprofit Network Southwest Washington (NNSW) connects nonprofits to resources. We offer a variety of programs to nonprofits including professional education, a resource newsletter, and advocacy opportunities. Programs offered to the public include speed networking to introduce potential high skill volunteers to community organizations, a giving circle, and board development. We connect with over hundreds of nonprofits each year and are looking for one or two great interns to help in development of new programs, as well as strengthening existing ones. The Nonprofit Network Southwest Washington is a 501-(C)-3 nonprofit organization.

Description of internship activities: We are currently looking for two great interns. The following work will be distributed based on strengths of individuals selected. Marketing, communications, and nonprofit management, particularly an interest in boards of directors are all emphasized. • Assist in creation of a new community program profiling the work of nonprofits to the public. • Assist in the development and deployment of materials including a tour guide; website page; social media and print media communications. The emphasis is on strong writing skills. We work with an excellent graphic illustrator, although would love your input on graphic concepts. • Work with representatives from several leading nonprofit groups on development of materials and event planning. • Assist in development of a new resource page for those interested in and currently serving on boards of directors. This involves research of existing resources, seeking permissions and agreements with experts in the field as well as other collective sites to use their materials. • Assist in creation of video storyboards and other supplementary materials to creatively engage the public in understanding nonprofits. • Other activities as necessary.

Qualifications We are looking for interns who believe in the potential for strong nonprofits to create change and strengthen community. We hope you will consider applying if this describes you: • Highly motivated. • Ability to work independently and in a support role. • Strong verbal and excellent written communication skills. • Excellent organizational and administrative skills. • Experience in working with diverse communities a plus. • Event planning experience a plus.

Logistics • These projects are open to a flexible schedule (approximately 8-12 hours a week), estimated 6 to 8 weeks length of time. • The internship may be extended if mutually agreeable. • The internship is unpaid, although a project-based stipend of $500 is available. This work is considered 2 related projects. • There are opportunities to participate in educational opportunities and workshops at no cost, in additional to receiving practical experience.
