Mini-grants available for 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance: Oregon Volunteers! partners with AARP Oregon and CNCS to address Hunger in Oregon

9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance Mini-Grants Program

Oregon Volunteers, Commission for Voluntary Action and Service, is partnering with AARP Oregon and the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) to promote an ethic of service, volunteering and inclusion in communities across Oregon on the 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance by making available small grants of up to $500 for intergenerational service projects that address issues surrounding Hunger in Oregon. Purpose

The 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance Mini-Grants Program is designed to support non-profit led volunteer service projects that occur within 24 hours of Sept. 11, 2010. To qualify for one of these grants projects must:

* Focus on addressing Hunger in Oregon; * Actively engage intergenerational groups and volunteers in both the planning and implementation phases, and * Include an educational and/or reflective component to help raise participants’ awareness of causes and costs of Hunger in Oregon.

Projects must also strive to meet the goals of the 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, which are to:

* Honor the victims and heroes of 9/11, and * Rekindle the spirit of unity and compassion that followed the attacks.

Eligible Applicants

* Non-profit organizations and public entities in Oregon * National Service programs including AmeriCorps and Senior Corps

Businesses, community groups, and other organizations without 501(c)(3) status wishing to apply for one of these grants are encouraged to partner with a qualifying non-profit organization in order to participate. Resources
