Friday, September 3 – Potluck at 6:30 pm, film at 7:00 pm, St. Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church, 1704 NE 43rd Ave., Portland.

Please join us for the next Episcopal Peace Fellowship "Peace Flix"! On Friday, September 3, we will be viewing the film "The Cats of Mirikitani: Make Art, Not War." This documentary is about 80-year old Jimmy Mirikitani who survived the trauma of WWII internment camps, Hiroshima and homelessness by creating works of art. The film, which was created when Jimmy's life on the streets of New York City is impacted by 9/11, is an intimate exploration of the lingering wounds of war and the healing power of community and art. The film has won several awards at various international film festivals and is described by Salon.com as "An irresistible fable of reconciliation and forgiveness."

We will begin with a potluck in the Nativity Hall at 6:30 pm, followed by the film at 7:00 pm. The film lasts 74 minutes and is not rated. For more information, please contact Deacon Marla McGarry-Lawrence at 503-803-0028 or send an e-mail to [email protected].
