Job Title:                                CRAFT Bilingual (Spanish/English) Domestic Violence Support Group Facilitator

Department:                           Social Services

Hours:                                     Part Time 6 hours per week (groups are 2 hours on Tuesday evening and 2 hours on Thursday evening from 6pm – 8pm with 2 extra hours for preparation, documentation, and other contacts with group participants.

Compensation:                       $18.00/hour    

SUMMARY

The DV Support Group Facilitator will present educational material and facilitate group discussions relating to domestic violence.  During these groups, the facilitator will provide knowledge, skills and tools for participants to use in order to help them remain safe and move toward healing from past domestic violence.  These groups will also incorporate curriculum related to achieving self-sufficiency and housing stability.  Two hours a week will be spent planning and organizing materials/curriculum for the groups, implementing tracking and assessment instruments to measure program effectiveness, collecting and reporting demographic information related to group participants and children and, when necessary, meeting individually with group participants to offer advocacy. An additional 4 hours per week will be dedicated to group facilitation.  There will be 2 groups (one for English speaking participants and another for Spanish speaking participants).  Oral and written fluency in Spanish and English is a requirement for this position.

CRITICAL PERFORMANCE FACTORS:

§         Arrives in time to open building, meet participants and child care providers and set up group.

§         Helps facilitate connection between child care providers and women bringing children to group.

§         Leads DV groups in Gresham twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (groups are 2 hours in duration).

§         Meets twice per month with Associate Director of Social Services to discuss group progress, dynamics, and anything related to curriculum revision.

§         Maintains records and reports attendance and demographic information of group participants to Associate Director of Social Services by the 2nd working day of every month, for prior month’s participants.

§         Coordinates with Associate Director of Social Services when there are new participants to ensure that they have completed intake process at main office and have submitted required documents.

§         Calls Associate Director of Social Services (with 4 hours of anticipation) when not able to attend group.  Notifies group participants and childcare providers with sufficient time (4 hours or more) of group cancellation.

§         Completes and submits time sheets in timely fashion and in accordance to due-date calendar.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, although other duties may be assigned:

Presents educational material related to domestic/sexual violence, safety, empowerment, and self-sufficiency in a clear and organized fashion. Facilitates discussions related to material presented to the group. Creates and maintains a safe setting that is conducive to individual participation and learning. Maintains professional boundaries with group participants and other Human Solutions staff. Maintains strict confidentiality of all and any information disclosed during group sessions and on an individual basis, even during informal encounters with group participants. Maintains records and reports attendance and demographic information of group participants to Associate Director of Social Services by the second working day of every month, for prior month’s participants Develops and maintains productive working relationships with Human Services staff, public and private agencies, other referring agencies and the general public. Leads groups with close attention and sensitivity to cultural and socio-economic differences between participants. Maintains records in a clear, organized, and timely fashion. Understands and follows complex written and oral instructions, rules, and procedures. Works independently and is a vital and contributing member of a team. Actively participates in ongoing learning of both Human Solutions resources and other community resources.  Learns about Human Solution programs in order to refer group participants to other services. Demonstrates knowledge related to domestic/sexual violence (theoretical and practical). Performs other duties as assigned by Associate Director of Social Services.
