position summary:

JESUIT VOLUNTEER CORPS (JVC) NORTHWEST, Portland, OR, is hiring a part-time Administrative Assistant for AmeriCorps (Admin Asst) to begin in July, 2012. This person will assist the AmeriCorps Coordinator with duties related to the smooth administration of the JVC Northwest AmeriCorps program of 135 members, living in 24 communities in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington. The Admin Asst will manage the electronic service-log tracking for the AmeriCorps members; assist in the enrollment, exiting, and performance of background checks for members; coordinate collaboration of members with the state AmeriCorps commissions; increase the AmeriCorps identity of the JVC Northwest program; coordinate and edit weekly blog posts; and perform on-going general office duties as required.

Qualifications:JVC Northwest is seeking a person with a commitment to the mission and values of JVC Northwest and AmeriCorps; excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills; ability to meet the public in a friendly and open way and to communicate effectively with diverse people; demonstrated ability to work with many details and maintain a system of quality control; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, is a plus; ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment, flexible, and able to adapt to changing circumstances; and willingness to participate in staff community. Office experience of at least one year is desired. Former Jesuit Volunteer or AmeriCorps member preferred. Bachelors degree preferred. Excellent work environment.
