position summary:

The Bookkeeper works with the Executive Director to manage Solar Oregon’s finances.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Pay and record invoices/bills in QuickBooks; Oversees preparation of billings for various funding sources.

· Ensure adequate fund balances are maintained in different bank accounts. Reconcile all bank accounts.

· Work with ED to track employees’ time and indirect and admin cost allocation, providing an accurate accounting of SO’s Fundraising and Administrative costs v. Programmatic costs;

· Grant management ensuring compliance with grant expenditure rules.

· Provide analysis on financial trends of the organization, financial efficacy of fundraising strategies and budgeting projections.

· Prepare useful and timely monthly financial reports for Executive Director, Staff and Board including profit and loss, balances, cashflow spreadsheet and budget comparisons.`

· Assist with organization’s annual and project budgeting;

· Update financial manual as needed;

· Process credit card donations as needed.

· Manage organization’s liability insurance and workers’ compensation.

· Work with accountant to manage and prepare the tax reporting and filing requirements for all state and federal agencies.

Schedule: Flexible, but must partially overlap with traditional daytime business hours, Monday through Friday. Possibility to work remotely on occasion.

Status: Part-Time, averaging 10-15hrs a week

Salary / Pay Rate:$15/hr

Qualifications:Required: QuickBooks, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Internet savvy; Understanding of non-profit accounting with restricted funds. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation. Detailed orientation with an eye to timeliness and accuracy. Candidate should have good communications skills and be comfortable negotiating terms of contracts with vendors or federal agencies, if needed. Preferred: Bachelor’s in accounting or finance. Previous experience working with a non-profit organization. Desired: Experience working with grants and community based projects.
