Co-Facilitate Youth Support Groups

Build skills in social work, group facilitation, and intercultural communication while forming wonderful relationships that have a direct impact on the lives of low-income youth who will see new possibilities for their futures because of having known you!

Co-facilitate weekly support group curriculum with a certified staff member by:

  • Engaging in positive conversations with teens on an individual basis regarding topics that are shared with the group.
  • Planning activities such as check-ins, skills building activities, craft activities, and reflection.
  • Assisting in planning and chaperoning field trips.

Opportunities available at low-income housing sites in North and Southeast Portland on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3-5pm and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-7:30pm.  Commitment to one shift per week for 6 months preferred.

Men and Spanish-speakers strongly encourage to apply, but any adult able to connect with youth and support their discovery of their own gifts and resilience are welcome!

To apply to, contact Nancy Loso with Volunteers of America Oregon at [email protected] or 503-595-2009.  For a full list of volunteer opportunities and orientation sessions, visit www.voaor.org/volunteer.
