Description
The Communications Director will work collaboratively with MRG's leadership to design, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive communications strategy. This strategy will ensure a compelling, consistent brand and highly visible messages that inspire our growing audiences to make an investment in MRG and our social justice grantmaking, and establish MRG as the "go-to" resource on social justice philanthropy in Oregon. Position is based in Portland, OR.

Position
Based in Portland. Full-time (35 hours a week) with some seasonal fluctuation of hours. Exempt. Requires some evening and weekend work, as well as occasional travel. Reports to the Associate Director.

Summary of Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain a consistent look and feel to MRG’s communications that support a compelling identity for the organization.
• Identify key audiences and develop messages and media that effectively communicate MRG's work to them.
• Develop an integrated communications strategy and manage the development, design, production, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic communications.
• Copy write web content, print and electronic newsletter articles, social media posts, fundraising appeals, press releases and other collateral as needed.
• Build and maintain relationships with media contacts.

Salary / Pay Rate:$45,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience. Excellent medical and dental coverage. Generous vacation, holidays and sick leave.
Qualifications:Qualifications: • 2+ years experience developing, implementing, & evaluating comprehensive communications plans. • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communications skills with demonstrated experience developing motivating, audience-based messages and disseminating them via appropriate distribution channels. • Experience working with media outlets and journalists and understanding of editorial and news processes and standard practices. • Strong organizational skills including ability to work both independently and collaboratively and manage complex projects and timelines. • Strong computer skills with a high degree of comfort with bulk email, website management, on-line CRM systems, social media, graphic design, and photo editing. • Able to work closely and effectively with people from different cultural and class backgrounds. • Experience or strong interest in fundraising. • Commitment to and knowledge of social, racial, economic and environmental justice issues. • Experience in community based activism/organizing a plus.
