Gateway to College National Network
Coordinator, Organizational Development (writing and graphic design focus)
Gateway to College National Network (GtCNN) is a growing education nonprofit organization with partner programs in 19 states. GtCNN has two education models focused on reengaging high school dropouts and college freshmen unprepared for college level work. Originally started at Portland Community College, the National Network has replicated the Gateway to College model to 30 colleges since 2004. GtCNN has a new model, Project DEgree operating at 9 colleges and is launching an associated initiative, the Innovation Collaborative, at 12 additional colleges. GtCNN receives support from national foundations including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Walmart Foundation, the Foundation to Promote Open Society, Carnegie Corporation of New York, and The Kresge Foundation. Duties:
· Draft and copy edit reports and correspondence to funders and other stakeholders
· Assist Communications Director in the development and design of marketing and communications pieces including e-newsletter, brochures, annual report, fact sheets, etc.
· Maintain Gateway to College National Network (GtCNN) website
· Work with GtCNN team members to monitor and communicate progress on grant deliverables
· Assist with research projects related to fundraising, new partnership development, and policy initiatives
· Communicate with partner programs about communications-related projects such as results updates, student stories, and e-newsletter articles
· Assist in the development of video projects
· Track media coverage and maintain media clip files
· Assist with preparing and filing board of directors materials
· Maintain and expand photo archives; obtain photo releases as necessary
· Other duties as assigned
Accountabilities:
· Well-written, attractively designed communications materials
· Consistent completion of projects on time and within budget
· Excellent customer service and attention to detail
· Well-organized file management systems
· Effective collaboration with all members of the National Network team
Supervision & Reporting:
· No supervisory duties
· Reports to Communications Director
Minimum Requirements:
· Bachelors degree in English, journalism, communications, or a related field, plus at least two to four years of experience in a similar position (ideally within a nonprofit organization)
· Demonstrated experience writing, editing, and proofreading documents for a variety of high-level audiences
· Computer literate, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
· Demonstrated experience interacting with and building effective working relationships with diverse populations
· Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work cooperatively in a fast-paced environment
· Ability to travel, sometimes for multiple days
The ideal candidate will also have the following:
· Demonstrated graphic design experience in a professional setting
· Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, HTML and CSS
The starting salary range is $40,000 - $48,750 per year, depending on experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package. This position will be located at the Gateway to College National Network office in Portland, Oregon.
