Internships with Climate Justice Portland
Climate Justice Internships: Organizing and Research
The Climate Justice Portland is a broad-based network in Portland focusing
on addressing the root causes of climate change, and the intersection of the
environment and social justice. We are a relatively new formation of long
time activists, labor leaders, youth, community organizers, and
environmentalists.
We are a work in progress, but please see our website to get an
understanding of what we
doand
what
we believe in as
an organization.
Climate Justice Portland is currently has two internship positions available
- Organizing Intern and Research Intern.

showings, educational events, coalition solidarity actions

email and phone call reminders, develop agenda items, coordinate logistics

*Research Intern:*
Work with CJP leaders on the Visioning Team gather, develop and analyze
information about environmental organizing in Portland, and, potentially,
the Climate Action Plan for Portland.
This is a social research position and not a science-based research
position. This position would be perfect for someone with a passion for
justice and a background in sociology, anthropology, statistics, or
economics. The internship is two part - Part 1 is the initial development
phase, collecting and assessing relatively simple information to lay the
ground work for Climate Justice Portland's future climate campaigns. Part 2
is a potentially more complex sort of research about Portland's Climate
Action Plan and it's affects on social justice in our communities.
Qualifications:
* Ability to create databases that are functional, intuitive, and simple
* experience doing research, from social science research to the mundane
search and copy from the internet
* good communication skills
* passion for climate justice or social justice
Commitment: 10-15 hours per week, early June - end of August
Unpaid, but university credit can be arranged.
