Job Posting: PHFS Family Liaison & Shelter Coordinator (full time)

_Job Title_: Family Liaison & Shelter Coordinator

_Reports to_: Program Director

_Job Specifics_: 35-40 hours per week at $14 per hour + generous
benefits package

_About Us_: Portland Homeless Family Solutions is a nonprofit
organization whose mission is to provide temporary emergency shelter for
families with children, to give access to transitional resources and
teach life skills to help families find permanent housing and stay there
long term, and advocacy for the end of family homelessness.

_Overview_: The Family Liaison & Shelter Coordinator will provide a
consistent demonstration of PHFS' values and mission in each contact
with homeless families with children PHFS' two shelter programs (the
Goose Hollow Family Shelter and the Thirteen Salmon Family Center). Work
will be focusing around building and nourishing mutual relationships,
trust and support to promote the strengths and capabilities of homeless
families as they work to obtain permanent housing.**

_Specific Job Duties_:

·Build relationships with moms, dads, and children who are living in the
Goose Hollow Family Shelter and the Thirteen Salmon Family Center.

·Ensure that the daily and nightly routines are observed in both shelters.

·Understand all Shelter Policies & Procedures, and be willing to and
able to enforce policies to ensure smooth shelter operation and a safe
environment for all families living in shelter.

·Emphasize a strength-based approach as PHFS supports homeless families
in _their_ efforts to move out of homelessness.

·Work one-on-one with families each week to develop Housing Action
Plans, and help the families achieve the goals that they set for
themselves.

·Interact with referral agencies, case managers as needed to ensure
accountability and accuracy

·Attend shelter staff meetings each week and communicate with the
shelter director about the activities and needs of the shelter.

·Manage daily shelter volunteers and help them find projects to do while
they are at the shelter. We host at least 8 volunteers every day between
the two shelters.

·Log daily activities in Microsoft Word and upload to Google Drive

·Maintain timely and accurate records on services provided.

·Work effectively with a diverse team of PHFS' staff

·Participate in team building, staff meetings, and organizational functions.

_Knowledge/Skills Required_

·Experience working with homeless individuals and/or families; knowledge
of local social services is a plus.

·An understanding of the effects of trauma and how trauma can impact
homelessness and poverty.

·Experience working in a setting that promotes the following is helpful,
but not necessary. If you do not have experience working in these
models, we will provide training.

oMotivational interviewing

oClient centered services

·Demonstrated success building relationships and collaborative efforts
with individuals and communities of diverse ethnicities, cultures,
abilities, faiths, and economic backgrounds.

·Commitment to non-judgmental, non-violent, and holistic responses to
those in need.

·Must be self-motivated and work well in unstructured, sometimes
chaotic, environment. Should feel comfortable working alone in the field
as well as with a Housing Retention partner and the rest of the PHFS team.

·Familiarity with computers and basic software use is required,
including Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs, and Service Point
