NAMI Clackamas Hiring Education and Outreach Specialist
The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Clackamas County (NAMI Clackamas) is hiring a part-time (20 hours a week) Education and Outreach Specialist to work in our office in Milwaukie, OR.
NAMI Clackamas is a grass roots organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for all whose lives have been impacted by mental health disorders through support, education and advocacy.
The Outreach and Education Specialist works with staff and volunteers to increase the visibility of the organization in the community, promote NAMI-CC and its programs and ensure that its educational programs and outreach meet the needs of its members and other stakeholders and supports the organization’s mission. The Specialist will also work to support all other NAMI Clackamas office functions as needed, including the helpline.
Qualifications:
1) Able to make a strong commitment The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Clackamas County.
2) Self-motivated, creative, and resourceful. Enjoys working with diverse groups of people, especially persons with mental health disorders. Must be able to work independently or as part of a team or committee.
3) Experience and/or desire to make a positive impact in the community.
4) Advanced written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate with clients, families, service providers, community members and co-workers, both orally and in writing
5) Possesses creativity, integrity, initiative, patience, enthusiasm and professionalism.
6) Possesses ability to plan, develop, facilitate and evaluate programs and make independent decisions.
7) Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Word, Excel, Publisher, Access and database and prospect management tools.
8) Ability to deal with pressure to meet deadlines, to be accurate, to handle constantly changing situations and to create a positive work environment.
9) Must be comfortable making cold calls for the purposes of promoting NAMI-CC, its programs, educational venues and for sponsorship and fundraising purposes.
10) Ability to be flexible. At any given time to be able to move from one task to another as needed.
11) Familiarity with marketing, including traditional and social marketing.
12) Ability to help with incoming calls from people looking for help and resources, often times in crisis or experiencing a mental health issue.
13) Help to create and maintain a friendly and supportive environment for volunteers.
14) Can thrive in either a high energy environment or working alone and self-directed.
15) Detail oriented.

Compensation: $11.00 to $12.00 per hour
