position summary: | The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry is seeking a full-time Production Manager who is responsible for the management, planning, implementation, and operation of the OMSI’s exhibit production division. In the development of OMSI products, the Production Manager sits at the convergence of educational intent, interactive exhibit design, sophisticated multimedia technology, and the physical world that dictates exhibit fabrication. The goal of this position is to support the intention of the interactive exhibit through imaginative problem solving through a strong collaborative process by which the best results can be achieved by team members representing a wide variety of disciplines. Interactive exhibits must not only communicate their messages through physical means, they must also be easy for visitors to operate, and robust enough to withstand years of loving use. The Production Manager will oversee the iterative process of protoyping to support visitor testing—parallel to content and design development. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of two- and three-dimensional design, including CAD, demonstrated knowledge of exhibit construction techniques, materials, production processes, and practice, demonstrated excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication and customer service skills to work effectively with people of diverse talents and backgrounds, understanding of confidentiality and protocol, strong presentation skills, excellent organizational, analytical and problem solving skills, ability to exercise initiative and good judgment in anticipating problems before they arise, proven time management skills, demonstrated people management skills, strong interpersonal, highly motivational leadership skills, with the integrity to inspire confidence in employees and to work effectively with diverse talents/backgrounds, excellent attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy, proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, ability to work independently as well as with teams, ability to work under pressure with flexibility, ability to effectively manage and track multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize, work well under pressure with a high degree of accuracy, and meet stringent and overlapping deadlines, demonstrated skills in teamwork and collaboration with colleagues, with varied skills and responsibilities meeting individual, departmental and organizational deadlines, and demonstrated abilities in strategic planning. Nonprofit experience and museum experience is preferred. Candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in construction management or construction science or engineering or equivalent combination of experience and education. Minimum 5 years of experience in a related field, with experience in a production environment, 3 years administrative experience, including budget and project management and staff supervision, a minimum 4 years of progressive program management, including staff supervision, multiple project management, and budget responsibility, and pass pre-employment and/or pre-duty checks, such as criminal background check and reference cheks. Bachelor’s Degree in architecture, Bilingual - Spanish/English, experience working with volunteers, and Ph.D preferred. Pay Range: $47,039 - $59,975 per year.
