Program/Policy Internships at American Lung Association in Oregon
Primary Responsibilities:
The American Lung Association in Oregon’s program and policy staff work in a variety of areas, including tobacco prevention and education, indoor/outdoor air quality, asthma and other lung disease programs. An internship within the program and policy department may include any or all of the following activities, depending on the specific needs of the department:
- Community outreach and staffing information tables at community events
- Schedule and coordinate meetings, trainings and presentations
- Participate in community collaborations, meetings, and partnerships with community organizations
- Regularly and reliably correspond with supervising program and policy staff, including email correspondence
- Attend regular program/policy staff meetings
- Keep accurate, up-to-date records of activities, as assigned by supervising staff
- Professionally represent American Lung Association in Oregon
- Assist in administrative support
- Other duties as assigned
Education: Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in Health Education, Social Sciences, Public Health, or related field
Preferred Qualifications:
**Strong commitment to the mission of the American Lung Association in Oregon; to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease
**Ability to work independently as well as in coordination with program and policy staff
**Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Word and Excel; web research skills
**Responsible, reliable and dependable
**Able to commit to presentations, trainings, events and meetings on weekdays and occasionally on evenings and/or weekends
**Agree to maintain confidentiality of personal information
**Valid driver's license, proof of current insurance and ready access to own transportation. Possible travel within Oregon.
**Ability to comply with worksite's tobacco-free and fragrance-free policies
