Science Store Lead

Do you have excellent customer service and have supervisory experience? The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry is seeking a Science Store Lead that fits these skills! The position oversees the day-to-day customer service operations for OMSI’s Science Store. The Lead is responsible for front-line service coordination and acts as a customer service resource during all store operating hours. This position assists visitors with purchases and museum resources, and operates the cash register, as well as providing inventory processing and stocking support.

The ideal candidate will have strong professional appearance and demeanor, knowledge of customer service fields and direct customer contact, knowledge of PC’s and cash register systems, knowledge of retail practices and procedures, staff supervisory skills and problem solving techniques, accurate cash-handling and record-keeping skills, strong attention to detail, experienced in teamwork with strong communication skills. Candidate must also have a minimum 3 years retail experience, minimum 1 year staff supervision experience, a High School diploma or combination of equivalent experience and education, and pass pre-employment checks, such as a criminal background check and reference checks. Knowledge of staff scheduling processes, staff training and evaluation, loss prevention best practices, a Bachelor’s degree or combination of equivalent experience and education, and be bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.
