WILDFLOWER EXPLOSION - Tour 3-Creeks Natural Area on Sat. 5/21 from 10am to 1pm.

Tour the 3-Creeks Natural Area Saturday 5/21 from 10am-1pm. Learn about this remarkable urban natural area and a road proposal that threatens this natural gem. Its the peak of the wildflower bloom and a great time to see a local treasure.

The 3-Creeks Natural Area is located in North Clackamas County, adjacent to the Clackamas Community College Harmony Campus and the North Clackamas Aquatic Park. Three creeks converge in this remarkable 89-acre site, which includes salmon habitat, bottomland hardwood forests, wetland meadows, rare old growth Oregon white oak woodlands, and one of the largest camas wildflower populations in the Metro region.

Led by the official site stewards and tireless oak activists, come see the beauty of this 89-acre site including the threatened old growth White Oaks, the wetlands and streams that they protect, and the thousands if not millions of camas that are in bloom!

The tour will happen rain or shine. Dress for the weather and a bit of soggy ground. Bring water and a snack. No need to RSVP, just show up and enjoy the day!

The tours are a prelude to the County's open house (May 23rd) on the Sunnybrook Blvd extension that would destroy many of the old growth white oaks that make up this rare forest. The Clackamas County Commission will make a decision on whether to move forward with the road in June.
