Community Nonprofit Resource Group (CNRG) Tuesday, October 7 CNRG invites you to participate in a free CNRG brown bag lunch training! We are excited to connect you with valuable resources that will allow you to learn, grow, and expand your knowledge. Here are the details of the upcoming event: Topic: Foundations of Effective Volunteer Management Volunteer management is expected as part of our work in the nonprofit sector, but often there is little support or training provided. It sometimes seems no one talks much about a volunteer program until you're asked to make volunteers suddenly appear to pull off that big event!

Benefit concert for Sunshine Division!

 

 

Bethany Lutheran Church is holding a benefit concert for Sunshine Division next week! Please mark your calendars and help us spread the word!

 

On September 11 at 7pm, Bethany will host “An Evening with Aivars and the Praise Team Band,” featuring original songs by local artists as well as many popular contemporary songs. Local artists include: Aivars Saukants, contemporary music leader and songwriter, professional drummer Matthew Eagan, professional piano player Matt Burnett, Jeff Bethke, pastor, on the bass, and Midori Suzuki, vocalist.

 

Suggested donation is 2 cans of food per person or $10 per family.

Congressional candidates to share positions and take questions about our local food economy

The Local Food and Farm Forum with candidates for Oregon's 5th Congressional District (the north Willamette Valley)is this Wednesday!

We're inviting you--family farmers, rural residents, and local food advocates to ask questions and let the candidates know what's important to you regarding local food and family farm issues. We'll be covering topics ranging from barriers to local food production and community participation in the siting of CAFOs, to financing for locally produced agriculture and young farmers. Please join us and make your voice heard!

Are you interesting in working for a healthy, growing non-profit?

Post Adoption Clinician - 20 hours per week with benefits.

Provide services for infant adoption program within multiple program agency. Coordinates and provides services to all members of the adoption triad including adoptees, birthparents and adoptive parents who have completed adoptions with Boys & Girls Aid.

Previous experience in adoption services and/or knowledge of adoption practices and relevant laws and regulations is highly desirable. Clinical skills are necessary to serve eligible clients seeking assistance in search and reunion with sensitivity, confidentiality, and accuracy.

Help pick winners for Spirit of Portland Awards 2008

Greetings members of the Portland community:

 

We are beginning the planning process for the ever-popular Spirit of Portland Awards and would like to know if you would be interested in serving on the Selection Committee this year.

 

We will meet for two short meetings here at City Hall in the Lovejoy Room.  One, Thursday, Oct. 30 at 2 p.m. to distribute the rating forms, review the process, and answer any questions. The second meeting will be held Thursday, Nov. 13 to review the ratings and pick the winners for the 2008 Awards.

Free training for social workers, counselors, and therapists

Are you interested in free training, free CEUs, and a free meal? Do you work with clients who are pregnant or who may become pregnant? If so, this training is for you!

Understanding Infant Adoption is a nationally accredited training that is designed to help professionals working with pregnant women/teens (or women/teens who may become pregnant) discuss adoption as an option. This training provides education about, not advocacy for, the adoption option.

Topics include adoption law and practice in Oregon, special issues in counseling teens, birthfather rights and responsibilities, and non-directive, noncoercive counseling techniques. NASW-approved CEUs for social workers are available.

Do you LOVE clothes? Sunshine Division has a perfect volunteer position for you!  

 

The Portland Police Bureau Sunshine Division is seeking two regular volunteers to help us in our clothing store, Threadz. The Sunshine Division is a nonprofit organization which provides emergency food and clothing to families and individuals in need here in Portland.  We serve thousands of families each year and rely upon the help of volunteers to make this possible!!  Please help us continue to serve the community by volunteering with us!
