We all know you have been working hard trying to make change locally, globally, or socially. Everyone knows you work hard but you sometimes feel like people don’t notice the work you have been doing. WELL WE HAVE! We know how hard you work and want to honor those experiences and the hope you bring society.

We offer to you this one time Hope Happening on Wednesday, December 10th from 4-6 pm at the Q Center (69 SE Taylor Ave at SE Water Ave, Portland).

Miracle Theatre Group is pleased to extend an invitation to you and yours to join us for “Posada Milagro” — a Spanish-language Christmas celebration with theatre, music and dance for the whole family — Sunday, December 14th, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at El Centro Milagro (525 SE Stark St., Portland).

This community celebration filled with Latin American traditions reflects upon the journey of Mary and Joseph in their search for refuge and is a day of fun for the whole family! Admission is free, though we are happy to accept donations of non-perishable food items for the Oregon Food Bank.

B-Word/B*tch is a 12-year-old feminist nonprofit media organizationthat interrogates commercial culture via a magazine, a website, and assorted other media and outreach vehicles. We're looking for someone with super sharp organizational/funddevelopment talents and skills to join our small staff... someone witha passion for nonprofit, noncommercial, feminist media rooted insocial/economic justice... someone eager to incorporate new forms of media and networking into our fundraising and strategic planning efforts... someone who believes that nonprofits can grow without compromising the radical values upon which they were founded... The right person will move fairly quickly into encompassing more oversight responsibilities.

Here at the Red Cross we're re-arranging our office, and - as beautiful as it is - this HUGE administrative desk is just in the way. We'd like to sell the desk to offset some of the cost of the office re-organization. So, give us your best offer! (FYI, desks like this go for thousands when new.) The Naturally Beautiful Backyards Program at Columbia Springs will begin its 2009 volunteer training on January 22nd in Vancouver. Volunteers will learn about Earth-friendly gardening and landscaping techniques and share that knowledge with the people of Clark County, WA at community events over the course of the year.  

Volunteer training topics include: organic vegetable gardening, use of native plants, healthy soil preparation and maintenance, composting, attracting beneficial species, chemical-free pest control, water conservation techniques, Earth-friendly lawn care, and more!
