Join The Giving Tree at the Crown Room - 205 NW 4th Ave - on Saturday, December 13 for Iron Bartender! See local bartenders throw down against each other using a secret ingredient, watch as local celebs judge the cocktails, and get in on the action and have one of the winning concoctions for yourself. DJ’s Nathan Detroit, Hanukkah Miracle, and Freaky Outy will be providing aural entertainment all night long, so make sure you wear your dance pants. Proceeds benefit The Giving Tree.

Neighborhood House Senior Center is having a book sale!

When? Friday, January 23rd from 9:30 to 3pm

Where? Neighborhood House Senior Center in Multnomah Village at 7688 SW Capitol Hwy(near the corner of 31st and Capitol Hwy) in the Multnomah Art Center on the Trimet Bus #44 route.

We will have hardback and paperback books (including great cook books) also movies, puzzles, CDs and MORE! Many items less than a dollar.

An extension of Naturescaping Basics, this workshop gives participants experience with the detailed steps involved in planning a landscape or project. You will learn how to map your property, assess your garden style and needs, do some garden dreaming, and work on a group design scenario. Participants must have attended the Naturescaping Basics Workshop first.

Family Advocate: Position is .75 FTE, potentially 1.0 FTE for 46 wks/yr, pro-rated for this fiscal year to 35 or 36 weeks. Starts November 1, 2009. Starting pay range $11.96 to 14.35/hr. Minimum qualifications: B.S. in Social Work, Psychology, Family Studies or related field and 2 yrs. relevant experience. Responsible for case management. through office and home visits for assigned families. Includes support of center parent committee officers, assisting in recruitment and enrollment, and consulting with head teachers. Must be able to relate well with a variety of families. Experience with immigrant population desired.

Brokerages link “customers” (adults with developmental disabilities) with qualified providers (you!) to give them the support needed to achieve their individual goals. We are looking to qualify new providers in the area who are energetic, have experience and interest in working with people with developmental disabilities, and are interested in supporting people living independently in the community. Providers are not hired by the brokerage to be assigned to customers; rather, they are qualified to be providers and will contract with each customer individually. Brokerages assist in facilitating these contracts.

Volunteers needed: Aurora Chorus "Songs for a Winter's Night," Dec 21st

Dear friends,

We need volunteers for our December 21st Concert...Ushers, Ticket and Merchandise table attendants, etc.

There will be 2 concerts, 4 PM and 7 PM, in the Parkrose High School Auditorium, 12003 NE Shaver St.

All volunteers will receive a free ticket for the concert.

Volunteer with 'The Store the Builds Homes!'

The Portland Metro Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a non-profit organization that sells re-useable building materials and supplies. The proceeds go toward building simple, decent and affordable housing for low-income families.

The ReStore is now seeking Customer Service Assistants. This volunteer opportunity will consist of, but is not limited to: greeting and directing customers (since the store is open to the public,) assisting with merchandising & at the register, and maintaining the organization of the front desk area.
