Support Portland Neighborhood Involvement with a night of Qulaity Theater!

Join fellow Portland neighbors on Thursday, May 8th for the Neighbors West-Northwest Annual Fundraiser at the CoHo Theater. Support direct neighborhood involvement services with a night of food, drink, and quality theater.

The event will begin at 6:30 with a reception featuring finger foods provided by Pashas Restaurant, beer from Rogue Ales, wine, and a silent auction of several local items of interest.

The reception is followed by a performance of Heather Raffo's "9 Parts of Desire" at 8:00 PM.

As North American natural gas production winds down and the industry increasingly looks toward LNG as the next source of supply, natural gas prices will rise toward world market prices for LNG - about double what we pay now. In the meantime, the U.S. administration is demanding that Canada dramatically step up oil production from Alberta tar sands, where one-sixth of Canada’s declining natural gas production is now consumed.

The City Repair Project 501©3 organization of Portland, Oregon is bringing together a new eco-action incubator in the building which formerly housed the Portland Women’s Temple. There are several extremely beautiful 200 to 250 square foot spaces available. Each space is unique, with gorgeous windows, a balcony, and garden views.

We want to share this unique and wonderful place with people who are creative and dedicated to promoting healthy and sustainable communities, including: Non-profit community organizations, creative activists, health practitioners, professional designers, artists, architects, and many other kinds of people who would thrive in this environment!

The challemge is a small budget but the need for a location on the busline, with parking, space for support groups and education meetings and three office work stations (probably about 1500 sq. feet). Volunteer Opportunity - Oregon Food Bank's Garden

Volunteers needed to work with at-risk youth in Oregon Food Bank’s Learning Garden

Volunteer Training: May 7, 6:30 – 9:00 p.m.

 

Oregon Food Bank’s Cultivating Community program brings together ‘at-risk’ youth and caring, trained adults to work in the garden. Our goals are to help re-integrate the youth into the community and to give them an opportunity to practice team work, problem solving, communication and caretaking skills. Volunteers commit to spending 3 hours in the garden once or twice a month for the entire season (at a consistent time). An application process and mandatory training is required.

Food drive sites needed for Sunshine Division's May CAN DO food drive!

Sunshine Division is an 85-year-old emergency food and clothing nonprofit organization in unique partnership with the Portland Police Bureau. Sunshine provides Portlanders in need with food and clothing services 24 hours a day and 365 days per year. Each year Sunshine Division collects and distributes to those in need, 1.5 million pounds of food.

We are calling on all friends of Sunshine Division to help us meet an urgent and growing need for emergency food in our community.

We are looking for volunteers who are willing to help Youth from all over the world. Volunteers will spend one and a half hours a week helping with homework and English, talking about school, life, and the youth?s future.
